Occasionally I get nervous about an interview. It seems though, if I know a great deal about a person’s career and it is someone I really dig, that it is harder to deal with the pre-interview jitters!
This interview was one of those.
I have a huge amount of respect for Warren Haynes. He has displayed incredible skill at improvising and lending amazing tones and textures to so many different projects. His quest for tone is as deep as most players, always looking for that beauty in some new Guitar, amp or pedal.
Warren is such a gracious and humble man, which I find, through my travels, is characteristic of those in this business who have carved out a career and found success sticking to their guns. No trend-following here. Just plain old feel; Soul and grit with tons of emotion. It clearly comes through in his playing and his actions as a human being, outside of the music.
He is also involved with Habitat for Humanity.
Also an extreme pleasure, and total gas, was talking with Warren’s longtime guitar tech and friend, Brian Farmer. Brian took the time to show us all of Warren’s gear for the Man in Motion tour and explained in detail the ins and outs of what he digs and favors for this tour.
Here are some live clips from the show.
Thanks for reading and watching.
