My Darkest Days/ Sal Coz Costa

Sometimes you meet people and it just works from the word go!

Sal is one of those guy’s super nice, dude, accommodating and ready to show and tell us everything.

I spent an afternoon with Sal at the Bell Center in Montreal while they were here on tour opening for Nickelback in support of the New record (Sick and Twisted Affair). A tongue in cheek Pop, fun rock record, lots to offer sonically and tons of fun.

Talent aside, the boys were hit with the Lucky stick when Nickelback’s front man and Chart topping songwriter Chad Kroeger took them under his wing and helped them develop into the Rock sensation they have become.

Here is the result of our conversation followed by a gear tour with Sal.

Sal’s Gear:
Orange TH30 Head
Marshall JCM 2000 (Back up)
Marshall 1960 A 4 x 12″ Cabinet
Keely Compressor
Digitech Digidelay
Hughes & Kettner Tube Factor
Zakk Wylde Overdrive
Electro Harmonics Reverb
Small clone chorus
Boss Dynamic Wah
Weeping Demon Wah
Boss Chromatic tuner
Voodoo Labs Pro control & GCX

Sal’s Guitars:
Gibson Standard V “Betty” AKA The Orgasm Donor
Kramer Night V’s (Pink & Flat Black)
Dean Zelinsky “V” DBZ Guitars
PSE Acoustic Guitars

Sal uses EMG 81/89 Pick ups.

All joking and fun aside Sal and the boys are taking their roles as “Rock Stars” pretty seriously and have taken the time to set up a couple of charities to benefit Child and Adult Cancer. One of these efforts was to join forces with Kramer to make a PINK Night V for Sal to play on the current tour , have signed by Seether, Bush, Nickelback and them selves and auction at the end of the tour to benefit cancer research. Hat’s off to you boy’s!!!!!
