w/ Eagle Tears
Review By: Timbo Jones
I had seen Monster Truck some months ago opening for The Sheepdogs. I was instantly impressed with their sound and energy. Think about if Deep Purple and Soundgarden had a baby, then that baby indulged in some various recreational chemicals and you might halfway understand how great this band is.
Opening the show was Eagle Tears, a local band made up of some Montreal musicians from various bands. This was their 1st show, but you’d never have known it. They were tight, the songs sounded great, and they played a great set of, well, sorta undefinable but if I had to I’d say sorta southern rock mixed with an 80’s metal/stoner rock vibe, if that makes it any clearer. Either way, they rocked and you should go see ‘em, you won’t be disappointed.
Then it was time for Hamilton’s Monster Truck. They played an awesome set of songs from both of their ep’s as well as others and really blew the roof off the joint. They have a huge sound and great riffs abound. A real high energy band, with songs like Rightious Smoke, Seven Seas Blues, Runnin’ and Space Nebula, they start off with a bang and don’t let up.
Go see this band, get their cd’s. If you like solid get-down rock and roll, this band is for you.
All in all a great show.
