Mark Tremonti, founding member of Creed and Alter Bridge, has an incredibly impressive cv. Creed’s first three albums sold more than 40 million albums worldwide and each went multi-platinum.
Creed was nominated for 3 Grammy’s and won one of them. (Best Rock Song for the song Arms wide open)
Mark was named “Guitarist of the Year” for three consecutive years by Guitar World magazine, and in 2011 he was listed as the fourth greatest metal guitarist of all time by Total Guitar. In addition, and also in 2011, the guitar solo in the Alter Bridge song “ Blackbird”,” which Tremonti performed with Myles Kennedy (known from Slash), was named the greatest guitar solo of all time by Guitarist magazine.
February 12, 2013 Tremonti finds himself in a sleepy Dutch town called Tilburg, during Carnival week. Mark was in town to do a show at the 013 venue promoting his solo album “All I was”, released in July 2012.
As proven many times before, guys that have “been there” are quite relaxed, with no traces of arrogance at all. Mark proved to be no exception; he is a totally cool guy. What is driving him is his love for making music, whether it is with Creed in the largest arenas of the world, or in local venues with his solo band carrying his own name: Tremonti.
Of course we wanted to know everything about his solo record, and during the interview Mark was joined by his bandmate and friend Eric Friedman. Many of you will know Eric from playing rhythm guitar during Creed’s live shows. Again, a very nice guy. We had hoped to meet the other guy in the band too, Wolfgang van Halen, the man on the bass. But unfortunately Wolfgang was not doing any interviews on this tour.
Later that night though, we saw him in action on stage with bandmates Mark, Eric and the amazing drummer Garett Whitlock, former bandmate of Eric in Submersed. The Tremonti show was as good as it was short (1 hour), another amazing gig of a great bunch of musicians!
