What an incredible night with these master-class musicians, we were fortunate enough to sit through sound check and get in 10 minutes with Guthrie to discuss some of his amazing career thus far and his gear for this tour.
Guthrie is traveling with one yes just (1) Suhr Standard Signature model on this tour. He explains this is made possible because of the construction and materials used in this well crafted instrument. A plain Basswood body, plain maple cap, the neck is maple but treated with a special cooking process that basically removes all the impurities and stuff that would allow it to move when changing climates, essentially never has to be adjusted on the road. This model uses the same electronics as his other signature Suhr’s.
Guthrie is traveling with a “Tea tray” filled with a cool mix of new and old pedals, his guitar is going into a Suhr Koko boost into a TC Polytune, a vintage Guyatone Wah rocker 3, then a providence Anadime Chorus, Ernie Ball Volume and Jerry Cantrel Signature Cry Baby Wah by Dunlop into the face of the amp then in the effects loop he runs a TC electronics Flashback delay and a TC Electronics Hall of fame reverb.
Traveling light the band is provided with backline and Guthrie is most times provided with a Suhr Badger 30 tube Head and 2 x 12 Cabinet amp setting are Power (10), Drive (10), Bass (6), Mids (8), Treble (5.5) and gain at (6.5). both speakers are miced and he is using a standard front monitor set up.
