From the first song to the last it was a killer metal show! Anvil came out and pounded the stage like a heard of rhinos, proving that 30 years later, these guys have still got it!
As has been his set up for decades, Lips hammered his custom hollow-body Flying V through two Fender Twins with nothing more than an EQ and OD pedal.
The enthusiastic Montreal crowd chanted and fist-pumped through the whole show.
Three-quarters of the way through the set Lips pulled out the historic “dildo” and the crowd went nuts.
Lips also paid respect to Ronnie James Dio, taking a moment to tell a story about how they ran into each other after having met 15 years before, and how the late singer bought him breakfast Lips being blown away that Ronnie remembered him. Anvil then went on to pay tribute to the late RJD with a song.
Glenn Five hammered through the set like a true metal pro with power and presence, and Robb Reiner held his throne like a true drum king. I was truly blown away by the Canadian Metal Icons, and encourage everyone to go check out their show if you have an opportunity to do so. They’re one of the true founders of metal, and will finally now take their rightful place in music history.
