Chris Duarte: A conversation Via Skype

drew150I first got turned on to Chris Duarte in 1998 when I heard a track from his first Solo record “Texas Sugar Strat Magik”. I was blown away by his ripping approach to blues guitar, his phrasing, Feel and tone were incredible !!! That record would create a huge buzz for this  young guitar player and propel him into a whirlwind beginning to a still strong career. When I started Loudguitars I had a  short list of players that changed and shaped me as a player, Stevie Ray Vaughan, George Lynch, Robben Ford and Chris Duarte.

In 1995 I met Stevie Ray, last year I was fortunate enough to interview Robben Ford and this past NAMM show oddly a second attempt and an arranged interview with the elusive and dare I say highly distracted George Lynch, it did not happen!! however the very same day George and I were supposed to chat I managed to pick Chris out of a crowd of many and though we did try to arrange a face to face during the show, at the best times during NAMM it is extremely difficult to communicate and get anything done so we agreed that we would get it done some how, sure enough a almost 2 hour Skype conversation led to this 3 part video. I do apologize for the clarity  but you get to hear what this man has to say and my joy talking with him.

We do have a few Live video clips of Chris from a Montreal Jazz Festival appearance in 1998 that are currently being transferred from Hi8 to digital media that will be posted in the coming weeks. So in the mean time please check out this 3 part interview “Conversation” and stay tuned for more from this great musician.
